new house tour {the playroom}

this big girl wants to be your tour guide through the playroom.  it was naptime, but she wasn't interested, so she helped me take some photos instead ;)

i think i may have already give you a bit of a sneak peek at our toy room, but for those of you who are interested in a closer look, i thought i would give you the full tour.

that is the front door to our house there on the left, and this room is technically the "front parlor", but its placement at the bottom of the stairs, and directly off of the family room made it a perfect spot for me to tuck all the kids' toys.  sure, i wish it was down in the basement so i can close the door and ignore the mess (like it was at our other house), but it is really nice to let the kids play while i am working in my office, or in the kitchen, and have them on the same floor as me.

the toy storage unit was from target, and i was thrilled to find both woven baskets and wire baskets to store toys in.  i like the look that ties into other spaces in my room, and sort of jazzes up all the primary colored plastic crap toys.  ;)

look closely....see those two bottom teeth poking up?!?!  oh, and can you catch the bruise on her forehead?!?  now that she is mobile, she tries to crawl into spaces she can't quite fit into anymore.....

she is a pro at pulling out and emptying these boxes of toys.

this is a table that my hubby made out of a door he found in the basement.  it is perfect for crafting with little fingers, and as you can see, markers are a fan favorite in this house right now!

yeap, this little monkey wants to be a part of all the action.....she pulls herself up to the table and colors too ;)

or hides underneath it.  lol

we used one large wall as a gallery space to hang all my favorite photos of the kids.  i love this.  i think it totally personalizes the room.

this sweet face leaves a trail of toys behind her......

thanks for stopping by!

gotta get back to eating my toys playing!

playroom - check

alright.  we have been living in our new house for almost a month now, and i finally got the playroom settled in last night.

my kids expressed their approval to me this morning  ;)

aren't they the sweetest cowboys ever?!?

yeap, that leaves only one final room for me to tackle.....

my office.

look for photos and updates soon as i am finally starting to feel caught up on life, family, and photography.

playroom art gallery

i finally finished up my last project for the playroom.  it has been something that i have been developing for a while, thanks to some inspiration from pinterest, but it just kept getting pushed to the back burner.

after hendrix's fabulous finger painting artwork the other day, i decided that we needed to make displaying his creations more of a priority and i just got the supplies and set off to work (with my little helper of course)

the frames are a random collection acquired from a combination of garage sales, good will, and one that i got from the 80% off clearance section at hobby lobby.  i wanted to have varying sizes and styles of frames to make it interesting.  i also picked up the ART letters for 99 cents each.

i did have to pick up one extra paint color, and i chose a spray paint can because i wanted something that would stick well to this frame that is made of some sort of plastic, not wood.  the other two colors i used were leftover from our previous projects in the playroom which i thought would help tie the whole project together. ;)

my helper really wanted to get messy and use the brush to help mommy.

he was actually a pretty good helper, and he sure made the project more fun.  i thought it was fitting that he wanted to be involved.

i learned that painting on the grass is not probably the best route....as the grass got stuck on the frames, and i had to do extra coats to make it all nice and even.  and there are some big blue patches of grass in my yard now.  oopsies....

hubby was impressed when he came home to these sitting in our yard......i had talked about doing this project, but i don't think he knew how it would turn out.  he loves it!

as soon as it dried he helped me hang it in our playroom.  and i was so excited to sift through the piles of artwork that i had filed away to find the perfect piece for each frame.  i love that the use of the alligator clips is going to make it so easy to change out the artwork regularly and keep it fresh and current!

it is great way to utilize a big wall and make it bright, colorful and personal!

i love that the playroom now finally looks complete.

playroom update

hey guys.

we are still again working on a remodel project.  that means i have very little time left to do much else.
i have been too busy being a right-hand man to my hubster when our little munchkin goes to bed to really think of anything interesting to write about.....

wanna see how it is coming?

yeap, we tore those bad boy stairs out.  and no the new ones are not in yet.
i am really hoping that project will get tackled by this weekend.  you know all the various layers of mud, texture and paint take time to dry, so it is really not as easy to just move along as i would like....

as you can see though, we are making serious progress.  if you don't think it looks like it, check out where we were just a couple weeks ago.

there was a whole lot of electrical wiring that had to be done as we completely redid the lighting, adding more units, and relocating the switches.

now that all the drywall is hung, i am really starting to get a vision for what this space will be like as a cozy, cute playroom.

can't wait.

.....better go help this guy out. ;)
