6 months in

We are now 25 weeks along!!! We are six months down, with only three to go!  In fact next week we will be starting the third trimester (which I have heard is the worst, so I am not sure what to expect there.......)

Here is my current bumpy tummy:

It looks like the major thing that Hendrix is up to this week is scootching slowly out of the breech position to move into a better position (head down) for delivery.   He is fully developed and really just growing and strengthening.

I am finding that my body shape is changing so quickly that I have a hard time keeping up.  I find myself trying to squeeze through spaces that are too small for me, and constantly dropping things like a total klutz.  :)

We are officially moving into our house tomorrow.  We will be sleeping here and showering here, along with eating here and working here.  My hope is that we also will be playing here too!  And I also hope that the working/playing ratio evens out very soon, because I am ready to kick up my feet and relax.

Looks like we are in for another sunny, humid weekend.  Enjoy it!

Happy Father's Day!

Guess I am a little behind on posts.  I just got our computer back from best buy and it is fully functioning!  (Hooray!) And Qwest is coming to hook up internet at our new house on Monday morning (also Hooray!), so I will no longer have any excuses for being MIA.

We are now 24 weeks along and this is what that looks like:

Yes, I am kind of grubby in my work clothes (which, by the way, those jeans are not maternity.....they are just sitting under my tummy!), and that is because my wardrobe has mostly consisted of clothes that I don't mind getting paint or mud or texture or grout on lately.  Our house projects have been keeping us busy, and thankfully we are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel!

Here are some semi-finished rooms in the house:

Our kitchen
Fully functioning as everything is unpacked in it already, though my hubby still needs to build a couple extra doors for the ones that were missing up high on the cupboards.

Also in our kitchen

A view of the living room from the dining room.  Both rooms are functioning and unpacked, though they still need some finishing touches like curtains, rugs and pictures on the walls.

Our bedroom, which is painted, but we plan to refinish the floors yet before we move our stuff into it.  For now we are still sleeping at our apartment.

Also our bedroom, but a view of the windows which I painted white!

A little look at some of our front landscaping that I spent many hours working on weeding and mulching with the help of my mother-in-law last weekend.  :)

And last but not least, a look at the improvements that have been made on our bathroom!

The toilet is in, and now we just need to do some plumbing for the sink and the shower and it will be fully functioning.  The newly laid tile is looking fabulous, and now I am trying to figure out what to go with for a shower curtain and towels.

The projects have been lots of fun, and have been keeping my mind off the growing discomfort of carrying around an extra 14 pounds.  Things have been going really well in the pregnancy so far though, and I really can't complain about much of anything.  Hendrix is doing lots of "moving and shaking" as my hubby likes to refer to it!  :)

This week is his growth:
  • he is about the size of a papaya
  • his skin is starting to look more opaque as he starts to pack on his "baby fat"
  • his lung walls are secreting "surfactant" which is helping to prepare them to be filling with air rather than the amniotic fluid that they are currently breathing
  • and he will continue to gain about 6 ounces per week for the rest of the pregnancy
Well, we are looking forward to spending some special time celebrating our Dads this weekend.  Happy Father's Day!

Before and After

I am a little late on my 21 week post, in fact I am now closer to 22 weeks, but I will still go ahead and give you some stats on what little Hendrix has been up to this past week and a half.
  • His body weight should be nearing a pound, which is the size that a baby bear cub is when he is born.
  • His length is about 10 inches, which is significantly longer than last week, and that is because they start measuring him front crown to toes since he is starting to stretch out a lot more.  Before this point he would have been curled into a little ball for the most part, so the length was measured from crown to rump.  This length is about the size of a banana.
  • His eyelids are still sealed, but his eyes are fully formed and active. In fact, he is now capable of rapid eye movement (REM), which is an essential part of a healthy sleep schedule.
  • Hendrix's bone marrow is taking over its permanent job of making blood cells.
  • He regularly drinks amniotic fluid for both hydration and nutrition.
  • Overall, he is doing less developing, and more growing.  His weight, and subsequently, mine, will increase exponentially in the next few weeks.
In case you are wondering how much of that has already happened, I will include a current bump pic.

I am still feeling great and am amazed at how much energy I still have these days.  We have spent every evening and almost all weekend working on projects at our house and I was able to keep up much better than I thought I would.  The heat wave we experienced last week gave me a little taste of being prego and hot, and I am really thankful that I will be spending many of my summer afternoons at the swimming pool this year!

For those of you who are interested in our house projects, I would like to post some before and after shots of some rooms in our house.  I would like to mention that none of this would have been possible without the amazing help of our family over the weekend!

My favorite room, obviously, Hendrix's nursery:

This is what we started with.

We started by tearing out the wallpaper.

We added a railing with pegs.

Did some coats of white paint.

Jake and Katie were a fabulous help with the green paint!

Painted a darker green on the bottom.

Pulled up the yucky carpet to be pleasantly surprised by the wood floor underneath.  And then my hubby got really excited about setting up our crib!

And this is what our hard work produced!
I guess we are ready to bring Hendrix home now.

Now we need to work on the projects that we actually need to have ready BEFORE we move in..... This is what our bathroom looks like today.......yes, that is very strong motivation to get to work.  We have big plans!
