our big celebration week {2015}

we started our celebration week off right with cool treats (from Dari Barn) and the fun just kept getting better from there!

we attended an i-cubs baseball game....

spent a  family day at adventureland....

(blaire took a little nap while we were waiting in line for the raging river ride)

the only ride blaire wasn't tall enough to do (which totally bummed her out!) was the bumper cars.  hendrix loved them!

the wave pool was a huge hit with both kids!

they were both daredevils, and loved the rides that went fast!  :)

we caught up with some very special friends at reiman gardens....

dined out a few times (orange leaf and hickory park!  yum!)....

threw a party at the brewery with our friends....

and, lastly, art and i got away just the two of us for a little anniversary trip in mason city.

oddly enough, i don't mind admitting that I am now 31 years old, and my hubby and i have been married for 8 years now. :)
we are blessed and so thankful to have so many incredible people in our lives!

cheers to another year!

party week, day three

today is my birthday.

for those of you who have been keeping up, yesterday was my anniversary, and the day before that was my husband's birthday.

we have this one really big party week every year, and during it we have far too much cake, enjoy some presents, but most importantly, we make time to spend together just having fun. ;)

the kids (i nanny for) threw me a nice birthday bash yesterday.

hendrix is becoming a pro at opening presents which will serve him well as he celebrates his own birthday before we know it!

the kids were enthusiastic about giving me their gifts and it was a lot of fun to feel special and loved!

aren't these smiling faces just adorable!?!?

then we left our little muchkin home with a baby-sitter (who is a sweet friend of mine), and enjoyed a very special anniversary date night.
it was so fun to go out to eat and to a movie and not have to pack a bib or sippy cup.

i love my cute little hendrix, but i love a few hours alone with my hubby too. ;)

now i get to celebrate my birthday with my own little family tonight, and my parents and siblings tomorrow.
it's a great start to a new year!

oh, and if anyone is wondering, i am still twenty-something. ;)

four years

four years ago today i married my best friend.

bud and i started dating in 2004 and since then we have both adapted to many various roles.

boyfriend. girlfriend. fiance. husband. wife.

daughter-in-law. brother-in-law. sister-in-law. son-in-law.

student. teacher. intern. nanny.

father. mother.

and through all those changes, i am pleased to say, that bud has always been my best friend.

i love you babe!

happy anniversary.

Hyperactive Hendrix

We are 28 weeks along!

Our little guy is growing and growing.  Sounds like that is really about all he is up to right now.  As of this week his body fat index is only around 2 or 3 % and he is working overtime to get that ratio up a little bit before he is born.  This is good because I want a healthy, chubby little guy! (That is why I have been feeding him so much ice cream!  ;)

He is SOOO active!  It used to be that I would have to patiently wait until I was sitting quietly at lunch, or even laying down in bed to feel him moving around.  Now it seems like hardly 20 minutes pass without him making such strong movements that I can't help but lose my train of thought as I think of how cool it is to see and feel him moving around.

My hubby and I went to a movie last night, and I was somewhat distracted from the show by the show that was happening right in my lap.....I am not sure if his reaction was from all the noise in the theater, or all the popcorn and junior mints that I was eating ;)

Our topic of research and discussion this week has been circumcision.  Depending on which doctor we go with at the hospital, we can do either a traditional circumcision or a Plastibell circumcision.  You can check out this video of a Plastibell circumcision if you're not familiar with it.  After hearing from lots of friends who have had their boys circumcised, we are quite positive that we would rather do the Plastibell over the traditional because it's easier to clean and maintain in early infancy.  It also appears to be less stressful for the infant from the movies we saw of each.

I guess that is all for now.  We are spending this weekend doing some celebrating as next week we have some big events in the Baumgartner family.  Tuesday is my hubby's birthday, Wednesday is our anniversary, and Thursday is my birthday.  Good thing Hendrix will have an entirely different month for himself when he gets here!

Happy weekend!
